iDevPro-Community Volunteers Support Project: In 2017 we initiated Community Volunteers
Support (iCVS) project as innovative and strategic contribution to key Sustainable Development
Goals(SDGs) as well as enhance human resource capacity in development programs. The project
aims at creating a pool of skilled volunteers and interns trained around major themes in
development programs; as well as bridging the experience gap for fresh graduates and middle
managers. By posting trained volunteers to support development partners and as exchange
programs, it provides opportunities for graduate and postgraduate students to gain real-world
insight into the implementation of projects.
Ultimately, our iCVSP aims to nurture a pool of health and development professionals who are
trained and exposed to the systems and processes in the health and development sector and
understand how stakeholders interact within the international health arena. The program helps to
develop a competent and dynamic workforce to advance health and achieve global goals. Since
2017 when the project was initiated, it has so far identified, assessed and enrolled 582 Volunteers
and deployed to CSOs for volunteering with the aim of helping the organizations to bridge their
human resource gaps as well as for the volunteers to bridge their experience gap. iDevPro trained
and deployed 98 volunteers in Kano alone. The volunteers are currently supporting community
level implementation of various projects. iDevPro-Community Volunteers Support Project received
input from graduate and postgraduate students specializing in various fields with technical support
from Voluntary Services Overseas(VSO).
